Medicinal cannabis oils are one of the most widely used pharmaceutical forms in the world to deliver cannabinoids under clinical control. They combine the ease of use of traditional oral drops with the dosing precision that medical practice demands.

At Panakia we produce the oils pk5 (CBD 5 %) and pk15 (CBD 15 %) under Good Manufacturing Practices, from full-spectrum extracts free of fats, waxes and chlorophyll. The formula guarantees dosing, purity and absence of contaminants batch after batch.

Recognized therapeutic applications

The clinical evidence accumulated in recent years supports the use of medicinal cannabis oils in different conditions:

  • Refractory epilepsy — especially Dravet and Lennox-Gastaut syndromes, where pharmaceutical CBD has regulatory approval.
  • Chronic pain — neuropathic, oncologic and musculoskeletal, frequently as a complement to conventional treatments.
  • Sleep disorders — particularly chronic insomnia associated with pain or anxiety.
  • Spasticity — in multiple sclerosis and other neuromuscular conditions.
  • Nausea and loss of appetite — in patients on chemotherapy or with chronic diseases.
  • Anxiety and mood disorders — under specialized medical supervision.
Clinical warning

Any cannabinoid therapy must be started and adjusted under medical supervision. There are relevant pharmacological interactions —especially with anticoagulants, antiepileptics and some antidepressants— that must be evaluated before starting treatment.

Why the oral drops route?

Compared with other administration routes —inhalation, suppositories, capsules— oral drops offer significant advantages for everyday medicinal use:

Precise and adjustable dosing

Each drop contains a known amount of CBD (≈ 2.5 mg in pk5, ≈ 7.5 mg in pk15). Patient and physician can adjust the dose with 1-drop resolution, making it possible to titrate slowly until reaching the minimum effective dose.

Good sublingual bioavailability

Holding the drops under the tongue for 60–90 seconds before swallowing lets part of the CBD be absorbed directly through the oral mucosa, bypassing first-pass liver metabolism and improving bioavailability compared to purely oral intake.

Safe and stable vehicle

The carrier oil (MCT, pharmaceutical olive oil, depending on the formulation) is naturally compatible with cannabinoids —which are lipophilic— and allows for a 24-month shelf life without significant degradation.

What to look for in a pharmaceutical-grade oil

Not every commercial cannabis oil meets medicinal standards. If you distribute cannabis products or counsel patients, these are the minimum criteria:

Quality criteria

  • Certificate of analysis (CoA) per batch — with cannabinoid profile quantified by HPLC.
  • Documented dosing tolerance — actual concentration must match the declared one within a tight margin.
  • Contaminant analysis — pesticides per European Pharmacopoeia, heavy metals (Cd, Pb, Hg), aflatoxins and microbiology.
  • Full traceability — from authorized cultivation to final product, with records available for audit.
  • GMP manufacturing — pharmaceutical Good Manufacturing Practices, not just cosmetic or food practices.
  • Visual and olfactory purity — golden caramel color (not dark green, which indicates residual chlorophyll) and natural taste without bitter or burnt notes.

The Panakia standard

Our oils comply with European Pharmacopoeia 2.8.13 for pesticides, keep total aflatoxins below 20 ppb, heavy metals within international pharmaceutical limits (Cd ≤ 1 ppm, Pb ≤ 5 ppm, Hg ≤ 0.1 ppm) and a microbiological profile that ensures the absence of E. coli and Salmonella.

Every batch is analyzed before packaging and accompanied by its certificate of analysis in the shipment. If you\u2019d like to receive a technical dossier with complete specs and a representative CoA, we can send it to you under NDA.
